Hey y’all,
I’m finally back from a much-needed hiatus. Life got crazy, but here I am. I want to jump back in with something Fall related because my love for fall is probably the least unique thing about me. Pretty much everyone loves fall, which is good because no one agrees on anything anymore.
Anyway, if you’ve ever read my blog you know I’m no expert at makeup (or anything for that matter). I do the same look every.single.time. The only thing that ever changes is my foundation, depending on the season and how tan/pale I am, and my lip color. Your lip color can change your whole look and requires little no skill in comparison to something like eyeshadow. If I try to change my eyeshadow routine there’s a 99% chance I end up looking like I have a black eye. So, a couple quick swipes of lip color is more my style. I’ve compiled a list of my go-to lip colors for fall that will last through whatever basic Fall activities you’re partaking in. Enjoy!
Mac Matte Lipstick in “Persistence”: $18.50
Technically this is a year around favorite, but I think it’s especially great for Fall. This is one of my favorite formulas. It goes on super smooth and doesn’t make your lips feel like you spent a year in the Sahara like a lot of mattes do. This color is a perfect nude (for me, I know everyone requires a different nude, don’t @me). It’s brown but with definite peachy undertones so it isn’t a boring nude.

Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in “Miss Conduct”: $24.00
One of the things I look forward to most when it gets cold is society’s acceptance of me wearing a dark lip. This deep plum color is one of my favorites. It stays on but I have noticed if I’m being really crazy (I’m talking like eating a burger the size of my head) it’ll smudge a little onto my chin. I also love the precision you can get with a liquid matte. This formula isn’t as moisturizing as the Mac matte, but it also doesn’t dry you out.

Smashbox Always on Matte liquid Lipstick in “Out Loud”: $24.00
This is the same formula as the Miss Conduct color, but a very different color. When the salesperson in Sephora told me to try this color I legitimately laughed out loud. Its a deep orange shade that I thought I would never be caught dead in. Low and behold, I spent $24.00 + 6% sales tax on this baby. Now its one of my faves. It isn’t very orange-y at all and is almost just a nude with a little twist. I actually think it stays on a little better than the Miss Conduct, or maybe its just a more forgiving color. Regardless, I actually have eaten a huge burger the size of my head in this lipstick without having to reapply after.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hydrating Lipgloss Stick in “Uh-Huh Honey”: $28.00
First off, I like legally have to tell you that I got this for free to write a review but that all these opinions are my own. I never share products I don’t like and actually use. Anyway, I’m clearly more keen on matte lips so I was honestly a little bummed to get this in the mail. I ended up loving it for days that I just didn’t want to wear a matte. The crazy thing is, it isn’t sticky at all. I drove with my windows down while my hair was also down and it didn’t get stuck in the gloss once. That’s pretty much unheard of. This color isn’t very opaque but adds shine and a little nude color.

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in “Fresh Plum”: $6.99
Until my dear friend Viki introduced me to this tinted lip balm I pledged my allegiance to the Burt’s Bees option in Red Dahlia that I’ve written about before. This color is a little more subdued than the Burt’s Bees, but I really love it. It doesn’t feel sticky at all and smells really good, too. I don’t know what the flavor (scent?) is, but I’m a fan. It’s a nice nude and pretty versatile so I wore it when I dressed up as The Rock AND Meghan Markle this past Halloweekend.

Hopefully y’all will “fall” in love with these lip options like I have. They’re the perfect way to change up your look without changing your entire makeup routine. Work smarter, not harder.
